RATES

I offer rates that are competitive with other local providers, but significantly more affordable than those charged by major lesson chain franchises.

CANCELATION POLICY

Lesson times are a standing weekly appointment. Lessons are billed monthly. However, situations arise where the student will need to miss a lesson. I do my best to schedule make up lessons for another day/time in the same billing month. Please give at least 24 hours notice in order to schedule a makeup lesson. If the student is a no-show or less than 24 hours notice is given the lesson payment is forfeited.

If I have to cancel a lesson due to touring or illness, I would prefer to do a makeup. If we are unable to schedule a make-up, then you will be credited.

EXPECTATIONS

In order for the student to achieve their goals and make steady improvement, daily practice habits are encouraged. I typically recommend 20 minutes a day for young students. Students and I spend a lot of lesson time learning how to self evaluate their performance so that their practice time is a rewarding experience rather than a chore. Every individual has their own learning style which I take into serious consideration.

MATERIALS

Upon registering for lessons, you will be provided with a .pdf of my drum set book, Contemporary Drum Set Method, at no cost. In some cases as a student progresses, I will ask them to purchase other books or resources. These are all very standard materials available at any local drum shop or Amazon. (Cost around $15-30).

INSTRUMENT/DRUM SET

Students will need an instrument. I require all students to have a practice pad, metronome and drum sticks. I can make recommendations if the student doesn’t already have these items. These items new can be found bundled and typically cost around $75. New young students can make great progress on just a practice pad. Although, I highly recommend having an acoustic drum set at home. Once again I can help recommend the right drum set for your family’s needs. There are many factors to consider, whether it be cost or the volume that a drum set produces. I highly discourage buying the most cost effective electric kit you may find from an online retailer without first consulting me. Many of the affordable electric kits actually hinder a student’s progress. I have found many solutions at different budget points, whether it be used a drum set, silent stroke drum heads or low volume cymbals.
